Print Media Jobs & Production of Our Own Magazine (Lessons 9 & 10)

Unit 11 (Mrs Cutland)
In this morning's lesson we brought in a magazine of our choice and deciphered the different jobs available within the specific magazine. We then selected a particular job of interest and began to research and consider  what the job would entail and its hierarchical importance within the industry. We then continued with our research by highlighting, selecting and retrieving physical paper-based information, which we will then go on to collate into a cohesive piece of research outlining the various departments in the print media industry and the different responsibilities available. Overall, this was highly useful in developing our Unit 2 skills on researching and selecting appropriate information and also helping further our understanding of the different departments which exist within the print media industry.

Unit 18 - AO2 (Miss Carney)
In this afternoon's lesson, we considered the different ways of eliciting information from the public, by means of surveys, polls and questionnaires etc. We then diverted into our own specific areas by choosing a magazine similar to the one we plan to produce later in the course and began to compile a survey we would conduct to give us information about what our target audience would expect and wish to see in a new magazine. This was incredibly useful at giving us an insight into the importance of gaining our audience's opinion on what would interest them in buying a specific type of magazine, maximising profitability.
